Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19th, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to twelve poor children, who would all grow up in the same household, understood very quickly how to navigate her way out of the challenges she encountered thanks to her incredibly imaginative imagination. She was writing songs before she had the ability to read or write. When she was 8 when she bought the first electric guitar. Then she began singing for an Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. In the same year, she recorded her first album on Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. In high school, she garnered a name in the local music scene but longed to be on a bigger stage. She relocated to Nashville the day after graduating in 1964. Her first charting records with Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated television show host at the time was searching for a woman to sing on his show. Parton took the offer and in the year 1967, she signed with RCA Records in 1968 and was a part of The Grand Ole Opry in 1969. Her departure from the show came, however, in 1974 because her solo albums like Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene beat out their collaborative albums. Following their breakup, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it went to Number. The first time it made it to No. 1 was 1974.
