Time magazine and Forbes both named her among the 100 most influential people across the world in both 2015 and 2006, respectively. Forbes named her the world ?Ts most wealthy actor in 2021. Her estimated fortune of $400 million. Witherspoon made her screen debut in The Man in the Moon (1991). In 1999, Witherspoon made her name with her part of a supporting actress in Cruel Intentions. She was also famous for playing Tracy Flick as Election's black comedy. Her fame grew with the role of Elle Woods in the comedy Legally Blonde (2001) and its sequel in 2003 and for her performance in the romantic comedy Sweet Home Alabama (2002). Her work was critically acclaimed, and she won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance as June Carter Cash, in the musical biopic Walk the Line. Following a career downturn, in which her only box office achievement was the romantic drama Water for Elephants (2011), Witherspoon made a comeback in the form of a producer and star as Cheryl Strayed in the drama Wild (2014) that resulted in her being nominated for a second time for Best Actress at the Academy Awards. Since then, she's been heavily involved in television productions. She has also appeared in several female-led literary adaptations. This includes Big Little Lies, an HBO drama series (2017-2019), The Morning Show and the Apple TV+ drama series (2019-present) and Little Fires Everywhere (2020). For the first she won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Limited Series. She also wrote and produced the film adaptations of Gone Girl (2014) and Where the Crawdads Sing (2022).Witherspoon also owns a clothing business, Draper James, and she is involved in women's and children's advocacy groups. She is on the board of the Children's Defense Fund (CDF) and was appointed Global Ambassador of Avon Products in 2007, acting as the honorary chair of the foundation. Avon Foundation dedicated to women's causes.
